WOMEN’S TENNIS PICKS UP ROAD WIN AT WEST VIRGINIA STATE

GREENBRIER, W.Va. – The Radford women's tennis team picked up a road victory, 6-1, at West Virginia State on Saturday as five individuals picked up wins in the singles competition, along with three pairs in the doubles competition.

"We've played a tough schedule early in the season and it was good to see it pay off today," head coach Jessica Giuggioli said. "We will try to carry the momentum into our next match."

Drousile Dzeubou and Natalie Sayer began the day with wins in the singles competition as Dzeubou defeated No. 1 Kierstin Hensley 6-2, 6-4. Sayer defeated Laura Isbey 6-2, 7-5.

Meili Martin picked up a 6-0, 6-0 singles win, while Karlie Pope defeated Lindsay Goff 6-3, 6-0. Yuliia Popova closed singles competition with a win over Kayla McKnight 6-1, 6-1.

The Highlanders swept the Yellow Jackets in the doubles competition as Pope and Popova began doubles with a 6-2 win. Sayer and Martin along with partners Dzeubou and Claire Nguyen ended the competition with 6-3 victories.

Radford returns to action on Saturday in a Big South matchup against UNC Asheville, the first of three straight road matches. The competition is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
