DZEUBOU WINS SIXTH STRAIGHT; RADFORD DEFEATS WINGATE 4-3

RADFORD, Va. – Drousile Dzeubou won her sixth straight match of the season, giving Radford a 4-3 win over NCAA Division II Wingate with a comeback 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win in No. 1 singes on Friday afternoon.

Dzeubou improves to 10-5 on the season, while holding an 8-2 record in her last 10 matches. The Highlanders and Bulldogs were tied at three, before Dzeubou's singles decision handed Radford its first home win in 2017.

Wingate took the first doubles match, but Radford stormed back to take the point. Claire Nguyen and Dzeubou commanded a 6-4 win in No. 2 doubles to even the deciding the point.

In No. 1 doubles, Natalie Sayer and Meili Martin collected a thrilling 7-6 (1) win over Oroma Womeodu and Maria Garcia.

In singles play, the two teams traded matches, before Martin's 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 3 action handed Radford a 3-2 win. The Highlanders looked to put the match away, but Layla Tanik evened the match at 3-3 with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Yuliia Popova in No. 5 singles.

Dzeubou's comeback win in No. 1 singles improved Radford to 6-9 on the season as the Highlanders will play their next four matches at home.

Radford returns to Big South play on Saturday, hosting Gardner-Webb in a 1 p.m. matchup.
