WOMEN’S TENNIS BLANKS NC CENTRAL IN FINAL HOME MATCH

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis team blanked North Carolina Central, 7-0, on Friday afternoon in the final match of the season at the Radford Tennis Complex.

The match began with Radford (7-12) taking the doubles point as Karlie Pope and Yuliia Popova won first, 6-1. Natalie Sayer and Meili Martin won the decisive point, 6-2 and gave the Highlanders a 1-0 advantage.

The doubles competition ended with Drousile Dzerbou and Claire Nguyen falling to Jasmine Gabriel and Tamara Jeremic, 6-2.

Every Highlander but one took the first set of their singles matches. Martin defeated Emily Pena in two sets, both 6-0 and was the first individual match to finish. The second one gave Radford a 3-0 lead as Sayer won, 6-2 and 6-0.

Lilly Ellick, in the No. 6 singles, was the third singles match to finish as she won 6-1 and 6-0 giving the Highlanders a 4-0 win. Dzeubou, Pope and Nguyen went on to close out the match with wins. Nguyen completed the match with a 12-10 tiebreaker score in comeback fashion.
