HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Radford men's golf team begins their second week of play traveling to Richmond, Va., to compete in the Janney Shootout at the Tuckahoe Creek Course beginning Monday.
The Highlanders piled up 17 birdies in the first round of the Joe Feaganes Invitational to open up the fall season. Radford followed that performance with an additional 17 birdies in the second round to complete the day shooting seven-over (575) as a team. The birdies helped the team finish tied for seventh as the tournament was shortened due to inclement weather.
Reigning Big South Golfer of the Week, Myles Creighton, finished five-under (137), which was tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. The Digby, Nova Scotia, Canada native finished the first round one-under and finished the second round four-under for the total five-under score. He knocked in an accumulation of 12 birdies over two rounds with six apiece.
The field of the Janney Shootout features six total schools from the state of Virginia including Virginia Tech, who won the Janney Shootout in 2016. Rutgers, West Virginia and Maryland highlight the other six.
