RADFORD DROPS HOME OPENER TO WINTHROP

RADFORD, Va. – Radford opened Big South play on Thursday with a 7-0 loss to Winthrop in the Highlanders' 2018 home opener.

The Highlanders lone win on the day came in No. 2 doubles as Drousile Dzeubou and Lotti Meszaros defeated Alisa Soloveva/Tayla Van Eck by the score of 6-3 to improve to 10-2 as a tandem on the season.

In singles action, Tyler Blalock won a set in No. 4 singles, eventually falling to Van Eck 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6). Also, picking up a set win was Zoe Fraser in the No. 5 spot, falling to Aida Kelic 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 1-0 (10-5).

Radford continues Big South play on Friday with a 1 p.m., match at Commonwealth foe Longwood.
