RADFORD PICKS UP FIRST BIG SOUTH WITH 6-1 DECISION AT LONGWOOD

FARMVILLE, Va. – Radford picked up its first Big South win on the season with a 6-1 decision over Commonwealth foe Longwood as the Highlanders collected their fourth win by that score on the season.

"It was a great team effort today," said head coach Jessica Giuggioli. "We competed well and were able close out points in key moments."

A day removed from its first Big South opener, Radford took the doubles point early as Natalie Sayer and Tyler Blalock opened with a 6-0 decision. The win improved the duo to 6-5 on the year.

Continuing to dominate doubles play, Drousile Dzeubou and Lotti Meszaros sealed doubles with a 6-4 win in the No. 2 position, improving to 11-2 in doubles with four straight wins.

Longwood knotted the match at one as Tanja Skalda defeated Zoe Fraser 6-4, 6-2 in No. 5 singles.

Meszaros handed Radford a lead it would not give up as she collected a 6-4, 6-2 win over Jamie Breunig in No. 3 singles. With the win, Meszaros is now 9-4 on the season.

Blalock followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win in No. 4 singles and Dzeubou battled back for a 6-7, 6-1, 6-0 decision in No. 1 singles to seal the match, putting Radford up 4-1.

Moving back to 6-6 in singles play, Sayer picked up a win in No. 2 singles, battling back for a 6-1, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7) against Yulia Almiron.

Jeanine Acierto rounded out the Highlanders with their third battle back win with a 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-3) in No. 6 singles.

The Highlanders will return to action in a week, traveling to Gardner-Webb March 24 for a 2 p.m., match.
