RADFORD DROPS 6-1 MATCH TO APPALACHIAN STATE

BOONE, N.C. – Lotti Meszaros provided the only Highlander win on the day as Radford dropped a 6-1 non-conference matchup to border foe Appalachian State on Friday afternoon.

Meszaros won a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 battle over Taylor Bygrave. The win improves Meszaros to 5-3 on the season in No. 3 singles.

Also in singles action, Zoe Fraser continued momentum from the Highlanders last match as she battled in No. 6 singles, before eventually falling 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7) to Melissa Machado.

The doubles tandem of Drousile Dzeubou and Meszaros was unable to keep their winning streak alive as the duo dropped a 6-2 decision to Heidi Swope and Maria Jose Zacarias in No. 1 doubles. The match was their first doubles match as the No. 1 seed as they went 7-0 in the No. 2 spot.

Radford returns to play on March 6 as the Highlanders will take on South Dakota in Orlando, Fla. The Highlanders will also play Norfolk State and Wayne State as a part of their spring break trip.
