HIGHLANDERS TAKE 4-3 DECISION AGAINST GARDNER-WEBB

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Radford picked up its second Big South win on the season, squeaking out a 4-3 victory at Gardner-Webb on a chilly Friday afternoon. The win gives the Highlanders their fourth win in the last five matches.

With its first 4-3 victory on the season, Radford improved to 8-6 overall with a 5-3 clip away from home.

Natalie Sayer and Tyler Blalock opened the match with a dominating 6-0 victory in No. 1 doubles, before Gardner-Webb knotted everything with a victory in the No. 3 spot.

The tandem of Drousile Dzeubou and Lotti Meszaros improved to 11-2 on the season with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5) victory to clinch the doubles point for Radford.

"Today was another good team effort and the doubles point was key," said head coach Jessica Giuggioli. "We came out strong in No. 1 doubles and fought hard to seal the point in the No. 2 spot."

The Runnin' Bulldogs knotted the match as Valentine Limauge defeated Zoe Fraser 6-2, 6-1 in No. 5 singles.

Radford quickly expanded its lead to 3-1 as Sayer picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sarah Rieckmann in No. 2 singles. Dzeubou was not far behind Sayer in finishing as she handed Sandra Bolstad a 6-2, 6-2 loss in No. 1 singles.

Not going away easily, Daniela Naupari inched Gardner-Webb within 3-2 as she defeated Blalock in No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-4 victory.

Performing at a clutch level the whole season, Meszaros improved to 9-4 in singles play as she clinched the Radford victory with a 6-0, 6-4 decision over Miljana Ristic.

With only three road matches remaining on the docket, Radford returns to action on March 27 at Charleston Southern for a 2 p.m., match.
