RADFORD HANDS NORFOLK STATE A 6-1 NEUTRAL SITE LOSS

ORLANDO, Fla. – Radford picked up its first win of the Highlanders Spring Break trip throughout the Sunshine State, handing Commonwealth foe Norfolk State a 6-1 loss Wednesday afternoon.

"Today, we had some tough matches. We fought hard and continued to make the necessary adjustments to playing outdoors," said head coach Jessica Giuggioli. "We are looking forward to the next opportunity on Thursday night."

Radford continued to roll through doubles play as Jeanie Acierto and Zoe Fraser opened the match with a clean 6-0 sweep in No. 3 doubles.

After Norfolk State evened the doubles matches by taking the No. 1 spot, the tandem of Drousile Dzeubou and Lotti Meszaros went back to work in No. 2 doubles. Picking up their eighth win and improved to 8-2 in doubles play, Dzeubou and Meszaros sealed the doubles point with a 6-3 victory.

Singles action went quick as Meszaros continued her strong play with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Ana Popovic in No. 3 singles, improving to 7-3 on the season with three straight wins.

Dzeubou handed Radford a 3-0 lead after battling for a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) victory over Dajana Cvjetkovic in No. 1 singles.

Radford's fifth win on the season was clinched by Natalie Sayer in No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 decision as the Highlanders took the first three singles matches to go up 4-0.

Norfolk State won No. 4 singles, while Radford picked up wins in No. 5 and 6 singles by default for the 6-1 victory.

The Highlanders return to action on Thursday, taking on Wayne State at 8:15 p.m.
