SAYER PICKS UP TWO SENIOR DAY WINS; RADFORD ROLLS 7-0

RADFORD, Va. – Radford picked up its second 7-0 sweep on the season as the Highlanders wrapped up regular season play at home Saturday afternoon against future Big South opponent Hampton.

"Today was a great day and I would like to thank everyone that came out to support us. We started off well by getting the doubles point and were able to really step up once we got into singles," said head coach Jessica Giuggioli. "The wind made for some tough conditions but we stayed mentally strong and made the right adjustments."

The Highlanders honored senior Natalie Sayer in a pregame ceremony as she played her final home match. Sayer opened her day with a doubles win, teaming up with Tyler Blalock for a 6-2 victory in No. 1 doubles. The win improved the duo to 10-11 overall.

Jeanine Acierto and Zoe Fraser clinched the doubles point for Radford with a 6-3 decision in No. 3 doubles.

Heading into singles play with a 1-0 lead, Drousile Dzeubou wasted little time, opening with a 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 1 singles to move to 12-8 on the year.

Blalock followed with a pair of 6-3 decisions to move Radford's edge to 3-0. Lotti Meszaros wrapped up her sensational freshman campaign with a 6-3, 6-2 win in No. 3 singles to clinch the match. Meszaros is 14-6 on the season, most wins by a Highlander in 2018.

Fraser took a 7-5, 6-0 win in No. 6 singles and Acierto battled for a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win in No. 5 singles.

With Radford leading 6-0, Sayer had to earn her senior day win in No. 2 singles. Sayer took a hard-fought 7-6 (7-0), 7-6 (7-4) victory, improving to 11-9 in her final season in a Radford uniform.

The Highlanders will open Big South Tournament play on Wednesday with a quarterfinal match against No. 3 Campbell. The match is slated for a 6 p.m., start in Rock Hill, S.C.
