RADFORD DROPS TOUGH 4-3 MATCH AT PRESBYTERIAN

CLINTON, S.C. – Radford concluded Big South road play with a tough 4-3 loss to Presbyterian on Friday afternoon as the Highlanders have one league match remaining on the docket.

Presbyterian (9-8, 3-4) opened the match with the doubles point. The Blue Hose took No. 3 doubles, Radford battled back to knot doubles as Drousile Dzeubou and Lotti Meszaros collected a 6-4 win in the No. 2 spot.

With the win, the duo stands at 14-5 on the season with an impressive 5-2 mark in Big South play.

The doubles point came down to a 7-6 (11-9) decision in No. 1 doubles as the Blue Hose squeaked out the win.

After Presbyterian moved to a 2-0 lead, Natalie Sayer put the Highlanders on the board with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory in No. 2 singles. With the win, Sayer moved to 10-8 on the season and 5-2 in league play.

Meszaros followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win in No. 3 singles to knot the match at two. Meszaros' record improves to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in Big South matches with her second straight win.

Presbyterian regained the lead once again as Brittany Nuttall defeated Dzeubou 7-5, 6-3 in No. 1 singles.

The Highlanders put up a fight throughout the match, knotting the match again as Tyler Blalock came through with a huge 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 victory in No. 4 singles.

Presbyterian won the match in No. 6 singles as Jeanine Acierto had to retire due to leg cramping. Katie Thompson won the first set 6-2, while Acierto followed with a 7-6 (7-1) win in the second set. As Acierto retired in the third, Thompson was leading 3-1.

Radford (9-10, 3-4) wraps up Big South play on Tuesday with a 2 p.m., match against Commonwealth foe Liberty.
