DZEUBOU LEAVES MARK AS RADFORD COMPETES AT ITA REGIONALS

Blacksburg, Va. – Radford traveled to nearby Virginia Tech to take part in the ITA Regionals this past weekend, with senior Drousile Dzeubou picking up multiple key singles victories.

FRIDAY
Radford opened the ITA Regional with the qualification draw for singles play, as the senior Dzeubou notched a victory over the 5 seed from Marshall 6-3, 6-3. Dzeubou moved onto the second round and was dominant against Liberty winning 6-1, 6-4 to advance into the main draw for the regional. Malin Falk also competed in the qualification draw for singles but dropped her opener in a tough match 7-5, 6-1 against Virginia Tech. In the consolation bracket, Falk rebounded and grabbed a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0(8) win over Liberty.

The Highlanders moved to doubles play to finish Friday, with the lone match being Katey Fruehauf and Falk competing against West Virginia and dropping their match 8-1.

SATURDAY
Moving on to the second day of the tournament, Dzeubou continued her stellar play with a dominant 6-4, 6-1 victory over Georgetown to move on to the round of 32. Anastasia Belyaeva also competed in the first round dropping a tough match 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 against Richmond, making Dzeubou the final competitor in the main draw for the Highlanders headed into the third day of the tournament.

SUNDAY
Dzeubou led the Highlanders into the third day of the tournament, coming up short in her match against Virginia Tech 6-2, 6-1. Belyaeva played her final match of the weekend in the consolation bracket as well, beating her opponent 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders will head to Spartanburg, S.C. to finish off their fall tournament schedule at the Wofford Invite.
