WOMEN’S TENNIS TOPS LONGWOOD, 4-3

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis team topped Longwood, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the Radford Tennis Complex.

Radford took an early lead in the doubles competition as Drousile Dzeubou and Tyler Blalock clinched the point with the second match victory of the doubles competition.

Freshman Marielle Leahy picked up a commanding 6-2, 6-0 victory on court 6. Then Longwood cut the lead in half, 2-1 with a 6-0, 7-5 victory on court 4.

Radford increased its lead 3-1 thanks to a Anastasia Belyaeva victory on court 1 when she defeated Marija Venta 6-2, 6-1. Longwood (8-4, 0-2 Big South) kept it within striking distance after a win court 2. Jamie Breunig defeated Drousile Dzeubou, 6-4, 6-4. It's only Dzeubou's third loss of the season.

Jeanine Acierto picked up her sixth win of the season with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) victory on court 5. The tiebreaker victory in the second set gave Radford a 4-2 lead and clinched the match. It also gave Radford its second straight victory.

Yulia Almiron for Longwood closed out the match with a three-set victory over Malin Falk on court 3.
