FALK LONE WINNER IN 6-1 LOSS TO WINTHROP

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis team competed against Winthrop, a perennial favorite in the Big South, on Thursday afternoon but fell 6-1 in Rock Hill, S.C.

The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead after earning the doubles point. Drousile Dzeubou and Tyler Blalock held their own against the No. 31 doubles team in the nation but ultimately fell to Megan Kauffman and Lauren Proctor, 6-3. It was the closest margin of defeat for any doubles match.

Proctor, the 51^st best singles player in the country took care of business early against Anastasia Belyaeva on court 1 and gave Winthrop a 2-0 lead. The Eagles clinched the match just two matches later when No. 5 player Katey Fruehauf and No. 4 player Blalock lost.

The lead grew to 5-0 for the Eagles when Jeanine Acierto fell to Ellie Burns on court 6. Malin Falk was the lone bright spot of the day when she defeated Megan Kauffman 6-1, 6-1 on court 3. She improved her record to 6-3 on the year.

Dzeubou fought to make it a 5-2 final score but she fell 7-5 in the first set and 6-3 in the second as Winthrop secured a 6-1 victory.
