HUNTER MUNDY NAMED BIG SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RADFORD, Va. – Thanks to an offensive explosion over the last six games, Hunter Mundy has been named Big South Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

"Hunter has been tearing it up lately at the plate," Creasy said. "This is the perfect time to get the bat going and hopefully this high-caliber performance lasts the remainder of the year."

In a week that saw six games, Hunter Mundy took advantage with 18 at-bats. She complied 10 hits (10-for-18) and a .556 batting average. The junior tallied four extra-base hits (one double and three home runs) and has a 1.690 OPS in the last six games.

Mundy's week was highlighted by a career-high five RBIs in a 4-for-4 performance in the series finale with Hampton. The four hits were also a career-high for the junior. The Creedmoor, N.C., native has seven hits and seven RBIs in her last seven plate appearances.

It's Mundy's first career Player of the Week award and the second time the Highlanders have claimed the weekly award this season.

The Highlanders have six games remaining and will resume the Battle of the Blue Ridge on Tuesday night before hosting Western Carolina in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
