
RADFORD COMPLETES FIRST DAY OF VCU INVITATIONAL

RICHMOND, Va. - The Radford men's golf team shot 282 and 287 in rounds one and two, respectively, which is good for ninth place after day one at the VCU Invitational.
The Highlanders totaled 26 birdies in the two rounds and tallied a field-leading 129 pars. The highlight of the day was in the second round when Peter Gasperini eagled the 18th hole.
Gasperini currently sits in a tie for 11th, while Tyler Hull is tied for 29th. Gasperini and Hull tallied four birdies each, while Hunter Duncan picked six through two rounds. A pair of underclassmen in sophomore Nicholas Taliaferro and Patrick Gareiss led the way with seven birdies through the first day. Gareiss finished even par (72) through the first round and was sitting good in a tie for 12th but fell after adding five strokes to his second-round score.
At the end of round one, the Highlanders were in fourth place. Radford added five extra strokes to its score in round two and fell four spots into ninth. However, the Highlanders are only 11 strokes away from the top 5. Boston College (568) and Richmond (567) only lead by one and two strokes, respectively.
