- Two of the hotter teams in the Big South will meet up at the end of this week in the final regular season series of the Big South season.
- Straton Podaras hit .600 this week appearing in all four games and starting in three. His five RBIs were tied for third on the team this past week and his .933 slugging percentage was by far a team best. By tallying nine hits, four runs, two doubles, and a home run Podaras was a huge factor in the Highlanders offensive outburst this past week.
- Bruce Hudson appeared in three of the four games Radford played this week totaling a team-high eight innings pitched. Hudson struck out seven batters to just one walk. He also entered and exited with leads in all three games he appeared in. His three innings of one-run ball against Gardner-Webb were especially crucial in a high-scoring game the Highlanders would end up escaping with a 9-6 win.
- Radford is coming into this final series on a four game winning streak that included a win over Gardner-Webb in midweek action and a series sweep over Charleston Southern.
- The Big South standings are crowded at the top and the Highlanders are right in the mix. Radford will have to outpace Presbyterian by two games in this final weekend to claim the four seed without any tiebreakers and advance to the Big South tournament.
- Gardner-Webb is also as hot as it gets right now coming off a three-game sweep of UNC Asheville to propel them into the thick of the No. 1 seed race for the Big South tournament.
Stay tuned for the next Radford Roundup which will feature events from Monday May 24th through Monday May 31st.
