Highlanders Blanked by Davidson

RADFORD, Va. — Despite being shorthanded, the Radford men's soccer team put up a competitive fight for the first 40 minutes before falling to Davidson 5-0 on Tuesday evening at Cupp Stadium.
Radford (1-4-1) had a tough time generating offensive chances, as the Highlanders were held to just a single shot on goal, courtesy of Mark Silva in the 85th minute. Davidson outshot the home team 14-4, despite Radford holding a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Wildcats (2-5-1) were relentless on the attacking end, as Luke Bryant scored two goals for the visitors, including the opening goal in the 8th minute that put Davidson ahead. Later in the first half, Denis Krioutchenkov converted a penalty kick to make it a 2-0 lead.
Highlanders' goalkeeper Joseba Incera made two saves in the losing effort.
UP NEXT
The Highlanders will open Big South Conference play on Saturday, Sep. 24th as they welcome Presbyterian to Cupp Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
