BURLINGTON, N.C. – Hannah Lindemann and
Jimenna Ramirez each secured top-15 finishes to lead the Radford women's golf team to a top-5 team score on the final day of the Elon Invitational.
A week after shooting a +18 at the William & Mary Fall Invitational,
Hannah Lindemann put her continued improvement on display with a +10 in Burlington. The North Carolina native returned to her home state and proceeded to shoot 74-77-72, including 33 pars and seven birdies, to take 14
th in the field of 60 golfers.
Ramirez is also getting closer and closer to reaching her true potential, shooting 76-75-73 for a +11 on the week, good for T-15
th place. After carding just one birdie in each of the first and second rounds, the junior beat par on the 3
rd, 7
th, 9
th, and 14
th holes of the third round to move five spots up the leaderboard.
Natalie Welsh had another solid showing despite not being able to duplicate her standout first round. She shot a 79 in the third round to finish T-23
rd at +13.
True freshman
Shea Smith acquitted herself well in her collegiate debut, shooting another 80 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 35
th at 19-over par while playing as an individual. Her score was the third-best of all individuals entered into the tournament.
Giving the Highlanders a fifth golfer in the top-40,
Jayde Dudley shot an 80 in the third round as well to tie for 39
th in the tournament.
And a third straight 80 in this round belonged to
Niki Batac, whose day was highlighted by a birdie on the second hole that helped her tie for 54
th overall.
Radford's first round 298 was lower than any score it posted during the 2021-22 season. Backing that up with back-to-back 304's was notable as well when considering that the team only shot 304 or better in three rounds all of last year.
