Women's Golf Takes 11th as Three Highlanders Place In Top Half of Field at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Even through a lineup shakeup, some rainy weather, and the second round being suspended early due to darkness, the Radford women's golf team more than held its own to place 11th out of 19 teams at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate.

Leading the way for the fourth time in seven appearances this year was Hannah Lindemann, who tied for 16that 15-over par. She kept her scores sub-80 in all three rounds, sinking a team-high six birdies. Her +9 on Par 4's and -1 on Par 5's were both amongst the very best marks in the entire 107-golfer field.

Natalie Welsh also carded scores in the 70's in each of the week's three rounds, highlighted by a 77 over the first 18 holes. The senior tallied 31 pars and sank four birdies overall.

Continuing a solid run of play was Niki Batac, who earned the second-best single-round score of anyone on the team with a 76 in the first round. She finished tied for 45th at 23-over par, thanks in large part to her success on Par 3's; the junior redshirt junior shot +1 on those holes. She also shot for par more than any other Highlander, doing it 32 times in 54 holes.

Cracking the Highlanders' starting lineup for the first time since last season's Benbow Invitational, Kaitlyn Mosdell put together a solid tournament to reward Head Coach Jeff Beeler's trust in her. The Roanoke, Va. native shot a strong +2 on Par 5's while racking up 26 pars and a birdie across 54 holes to tie for 72nd at +29.

Freshman Shea Smith matched Mosdell with a +29 of her own to tie for 72nd as well. She, too, was excellent on Par 3's with a 3.25 stroke average and ended the tournament with 28 total pars.

Radford maintained their spot in the top-8 on the team leaderboard for much of the first two rounds before settling into 11th before their time in Williamsburg wrapped up. The Highlanders combined to card 147 pars and 14 birdies.

Pennsylvania won the team title a +42 while fellow Big South schools High Point (+44) and Longwood (+57) earned podium finishes. High Point's Sarah Kahn shot -3 to top the player leaderboard; the next closest competitor shot +7.
