BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — The Radford baseball dropped their series-opening contest against Gardner-Webb 14-4 in Big South action on Friday evening at John Henry Moss Stadium.
Third baseman
Bannon Brazell got the scoring started for the Highlanders (7-19, 0-4 Big South), knocking in
Julian Rojas with a single to left in the sixth inning. It was Brazell's second straight game with an RBI, after hitting his first career home run against ETSU on Tuesday.
Catcher Garett Pancione also checked into the box score, hitting an RBI single in the ninth. As a team, the Highlanders were held to just six hits.
Starting pitcher Bobby Alcock earned the victory for Gardner-Webb (16-9, 5-2), going seven innings and allowing one run.
Carter Seabrooke took the loss for Radford.

Game two of the series is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday. It will be streamed on ESPN+.
