Highlanders Jump One Spot Up Standings At Big South Championships

GREENWOOD, S.C. – A much-improved performance in the second round has the Radford women's golf team up into eighth place at the 2023 Big South Championships.

After shooting 322 as a team yesterday, the Highlanders came out and carded an efficient 314 on Thursday to surpass Presbyterian and move up one spot on the leaderboard. Each of Radford's five golfers added one birdie to the tally this time out and a 5.38 stroke average on Par 5's has proven to be a strength in this tournament.

Senior Natalie Welsh has stayed consistent over her first 36 holes, following up yesterday's 75 with a 76 in round two. She limited her mistakes and highlighted the day with a birdie on the fourth hole to maintain her position tied for fifth as an individual.

Battling through some bumps and bruises here and there, Hannah Lindemann took a huge leap forward in the second round thanks to a 5-over par 77, six-strokes better than her first round. The sophomore jumped 12 spots up the standings into 29^th place with a chance to finish strong tomorrow.

Each tied for 34^th, Jimenna Ramirez and Niki Batac move up seven spots and one spot on the leaderboard, respectively. Ramirez hit the bottom of the cup for birdie on the seventh hole while Batac did it on the 15^thhole.

Rounding out an overall positive outing on the course was Jayde Dudley, who shaved seven strokes off her first-round score to shoot 81 in round two. She moved seven spots up the individual standings as well and heads into the final round tied for 42^nd.

High Point (+36), Gardner-Webb (+40) and Campbell (+40) occupy the top three spots while the Panthers' Sarah Kahn leads the field at +2.
