Welsh, Highlanders End Regular Season On High Note at The Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay

GRASONVILLE, Md. – After a lengthy rain delay complete erased one round of competition on Saturday, the Radford women's golf team came out firing and placed fifth out of 16 teams in The Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay.

The Highlanders combined to shoot a 313 in the first round after which they ranked sixth in the team standings. They then came right back out on Sunday to shoot another 313 and jump up one spot to head into the conference championships on a very high note.

Natalie Welsh was the top catalyst behind the team's success, tying for 5th in a field of 95 with a 76-75 (+7). She carded four birdies total and not a single golfer was better than her on Par 4's, on which she averaged just 4.05 strokes.

Then, tying for 18th, was Jayde Dudley who put together one of her best tournaments of the year. Dudley also sunk four birdies over the weekend to finish 78-79 (+13).

The duo of Niki Batac and Shea Smith went shot-for-shot over 36 holes, tying for 27th to give Coach Beeler and the Highlanders four top-30 finishers. Batac was solid on Par 3's, shooting just +2 with a 3.25 stroke average while both women ended with 20 pars.

Jimenna Ramirez (T-59th, +23) and Hannah Lindemann (T-65th, +24) didn't have the showing they would have liked, but both had plenty of positives to build on going forward.

Harvard's Meiyi Yan won the individual title with a +3 while the Crimson topped the team leaderboard at +29 overall.
