Livingston Announces Seven Newcomers to Radford Volleyball

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford volleyball program will welcome seven new members for the 2023 season, head coach Sherisa Livingston announced Tuesday morning. The newest Highlanders are Taryn Roberts, Rylee Sloss, Sydney Mundkowsky, Olivia Flanagan, Kenya Lucas, Gracelyn Robidoux and Alana Kolb.

Standing at an imposing 6'1", Roberts joins the Highlanders after a decorated career playing for the Franklin Admirals and the Tennessee Performance club team. She was named Offensive Player of the Year in 2021-22 and was an All-District selection in 2022-23. According the MaxPreps, she finished her high school career with 450 kills on a .268 hitting percentage across 237 sets played.

The first Blacksburg native in the Radford volleyball program since Brenna Ankrum graduated following the 2021 season, Sloss played her prep volleyball for Blacksburg High School and the River Valley Juniors. She was named First Team All-River Ridge District and First Team Region 4D in both 2021 and 2022 while also excelling in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society.

Hailing from the great state of Texas, Mundkowsky began her collegiate career at Angelo State where she represented the Rambelles for three seasons. The 6'4" right-side hitter enjoyed a true breakout campaign in 2022, recording career highs of 225 kills on a .228 hitting percentage, 45.0 total blocks and 31 digs.
 
Mundkowsky, a member of the LSC Championship and AVCA National Championship teams at ASU, earned many academic recognitions, including CSC Academic All-District honors, Lone Star Conference Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Dean's List for all six semesters. She played her club volleyball for Austin Performance while attending Gatesville High School.

Following four years playing for Agua Fria at Millennium High School and honing her craft with Revolution Volleyball Academy, Flanagan signed with Jackson State. The big-time hitter tallied 277 kills on a .250 hitting percentage, 54 digs, 25.0 total blocks and five service aces as a true freshman en route to a SWAC Freshman of the Year honor and First Team All-Conference selection.
 
Then, in her sophomore season, Flanagan posted 217 kills on an even better .287 hitting percentage, 34 digs and 29.0 total blocks. She was also a standout in the classroom, earning Dean's List in 2021 and President's List in 2022.

The all-time career kills record holder at Abington Senior High School, Lucas gives the Highlanders another outside hitter with tons of potential. She was named All-Area, All-League and All-Conference while also earning a spot on both the Honor Roll and Distinguished Honor Roll during her time with the Ghosts. Lucas also played club volleyball for East Coast Power Chesapeake.

After a strong career at Thompson Valley High School and with the NORCO club team, Robidoux makes her way to the New River Valley. She was a member of the 2021-22 4A State Championship team, being named All-Conference in 2022. The defensive specialist also earned a place on the Honor Roll in both 2021-22/2022-23 and made the All-Academic Team in 2021-22.

A 6'2" standout for Gulf Breeze High School and the West Florida Waves club team, Kolb is coming off an amazing senior season in which she recorded 155 kills (.355 hitting percentage), 27 assists and 62.0 total blocks across 84 sets played according to MaxPreps. Her performance garnered a Pensacola Sports Team All-Star selection.
 
Kolb was also extremely active in academics in extracurriculars; she was a member of the National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society and Rho Kappa National Honor Society.


 


The seven newest Highlanders join a number of returners from the 2022 season, as well as new transfers Sierra Moore and Julia Slivka.
