Miller’s Efforts Garner Big South Defensive Player of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Ben Miller has been named the Defensive Player of the Week after he helped guide Radford's defense to a shutout against #23 Gardner-Webb.

Miller bolstered the Highlanders' efforts in drawing a scoreless tie against nationally ranked Gardner-Webb in Radford's lone match last week. Despite facing 17 shots, including eight that came on goal, Miller never faltered keeping Radford within striking distance for the full 90. His eight saves marked a new high in his young Radford career. The shutout was also the Highlanders second in conference play this season.

The weekly award is the third for the Highlanders this season, as Miller joins fellow Highlanders Kenshin Akimoto and Hiromasa Iwai who each earned weekly awards earlier this season. Radford's three weekly awards are their most in a season since 2021.

The Highlanders face another tall task in their next conference battle this upcoming weekend. Radford will host nationally ranked High Point, who most recently checked in at seventh, for a 2 p.m. tilt on ESPN+.
