Box Score

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's soccer program used a strong defensive effort Wednesday afternoon to earn a scoreless 0-0 tie against ETSU.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Ben Miller would earn his first clean sheet of the season as the keeper finished with six saves.
Five cards were drawn in the physical meeting, but Radford kept their bookings limited to just one while ETSU drew four.
The shots and shots on goal battle was nearly identical as both teams had 12 shots to go with five (Radford) and six (ETSU) on goal.
The scoreless tie is Radford's first since earning a scoreless draw last season against USC Upstate, who the Highlanders play this upcoming Saturday.

PLAY BY PLAY
In a physical battle throughout, Radford put some pressure on early against ETSU with a corner kick drawn in the opening minutes. ETSU drew a corner of their own and the first shot of the game, but Miller made a good save on it.

Gabriele Stellati had Radford's first shot on target in the 12th minute but the Buccaneers goalkeeper made his first of many big stops in the game to keep it 0-0. Miller would tally two more saves on Radford's defensive end as both teams traded possession. In the 33rd minute, the Highlanders got back-to-back good looks from Seth Flores and Rahul Moriarty but both were saved.

Entering the second half still locked at 0-0, ETSU would control possession for a most, but not all, of the remainder of the match. Radford's defense broke up every scoring opportunity that came their way as Jackson Borehma, Sam Amyx, and Carson Danner kept Miller from having to face too much traffic.

The Highlanders got their best look of the match in the closing seconds. Noel Zimbeva slipped through the Buccaneers' defense and had a one-on-one look against the Buccaneers goalkeeper. Their keeper made a stellar save and Amir Simpson's follow up rang high as the 0-0 scoreless tie would stand.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders' focus returns to conference play this weekend as they go on the road to play USC Upstate on Saturday, October 3rd. Action is currently set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
