HARRISONBURG, VA. – Junior
Mandy Smith (Annandale, Va.) and sophomores
Kate Keck (Millersville, Pa) and
Anna Millotte (Sterling, Va.) all recorded personal best. Also,
Katie Shaffer (Virginia Beach, Va.) re-broke her own school records in both the three-meter and one-meter diving events as Radford's swimming and diving team fell to in-state rival James Madison 130-89 on Saturday afternoon at Savage Natatorium.
Smith tallied a personal best in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.49, beating her old personal best by fourteen tenths of a second. Keck placed fourth in the in the 100-yard freestyle and recorded her personal best of 57.70. Millotte also tallied her personal best in the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 1:00.36, which beat her old personal best by thirty-five tenths of second.
Shaffer re-broke her previous school records in each of the diving events. She place third in the one-meter with a score of 187.43 beating her old mark by 12 points and placed third in the three-meter with a score of 221.63, which beat her old record by 16 points.
Freshmen
Whitney Friend (Charlottesville, Va.) placed second in the 1,000 meter freestyle with a time of 12:08.14. Friend was the highest finisher for the Highlanders.
The Highlanders will be back in action on November 1 when they face VMI and Howard.
