RADFORD, Va. -- Coming off its first of four three-game road trips this season, Radford will begins its longest homestand of the 2008-09 campaign Thursday evening with a 7 p.m. tip against Gardner-Webb at Peters Hall.
The Highlanders enter the tilt 2-3 overall following a 73-71 overtime loss at Navy Saturday night, while the Bulldogs bring a 1-4 mark into their first-ever Big South contest.
HIGHLANDER HITS
- Despite their setback to the Midshipmen,
Amir Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa/Quaker Valley) led the Highlanders with a season-high 19 points, including all eight of Radford's points in overtime.
- Thursday's affair is also the first ever league game played at Peters Hall.
- Since joining the league in 1985, the Highlanders are 6-17 all-time in conference openers, but 14-9 in Big South home openers.

Artsiom Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus) continues to lead Radford in scoring and rebounding. His 14.6 points per game and average of 7.2 rebounds per outing ranks him 12th and 6th among conference leaders, respectively.
- Along with Parakhouski,
Kenny Thomas (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs),
Joey Lynch-Flohr (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) and
Martell McDuffy (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) are also averaging double figures for the Highlanders this season.
- Radford continues to impress on the defensive end of the floor and currently leads the Big South Conference in field-goal percentage defense (.352), three-point field goal percentage defense (.215) defensive rebounds (27.6) and blocked shots (28).
- Gardner-Webb and the Highlanders met twice on the hardwood last season with the two teams splitting their only two meetings in school history,
- Following tonight's tilt, RU will host league rival Winthrop Saturday in a 7 p.m. tip at Peters Hall.
