Charleston, S.C. –Radford's swimming and diving team didn't get much of a break, as they were back in the pool again on Sunday against College of Charleston and Limestone at The Theodore Stern Student Activities Center. The Highlanders (1-9, 1-5) dropped the dual meet contest to the Cougars 151-69 and the Saints 131-92.
Alexis Butner (Charlotte, N.C./Providence), #
Alexa Sears# (Newport News, Va./Menchville) and #
Katie Shaffer# (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) each placed in the top three in their respective events.
Butner recorded a second place finish in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:35.96 and a third place finish in the 200-meter individually medley with a time of 2:35.79. Sears finished second in the 50-meter freestyle behind College of Charleston's Morgan Hall with a time of 28.92.
Shaffer, the current school recorder holder in both events, swept the top spots in both the one and three-meter events. She received scores of 187.80 for the one-meter and 204.22 for the three-meter.
The Highlanders return to the pool on Friday, January 16 when they face North Carolina A&T at 6:00 p.m.
