Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Radford men's cross country team placed ninth with 247 points at the 2009 New Balance Big South Men's Cross Country Championship at the Shady Oaks Course on Saturday morning.
Freshman
Sam Keltner (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) was the first Highlander to cross the finish line in 42nd place with a time of 29:01.00, while teammate
Nathan Turner (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) finished in 46th place with a time of 29:22.00.
Sophomore
Eric Adams (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) crossed the finish line with a time of 29:56.00, while
Liam Arocho (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) finished in 50th place with a time of 30:19.00.
Rounding out the scoring for the Highlanders was
Mike Saunders (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee), who finished 55th with a time of 30:50.00 and
Mike Arrowsmith (Ashburn, Va./Stonebridge), who crossed the finish line with a time of 31:13.00 for 57th place.
Turner was honored for his work in the classroom and was named to the 2009 Cross Country All-Academic Team.
