CONWAY, S.C. – No. 19 Coastal Carolina hit nine home runs in a doubleheader to finish off a series sweep of Radford, 10-1 and 14-2, at Vrooman Field/Watson Stadium Saturday afternoon.
With the wins, Coastal Carolina extended a 10-game winning streak and improved to 29-7 overall, 9-2 in Big South play.
Radford dropped to 14-14 overall following the sweep, and 7-6 in conference play.
GAME 1 – CHANTICLEERS 10, HIGHLANDERS 1

Alex Gregory (Great Falls, Va./Paul VI) opened the scoring, leading off the top of the second with a solo home run, but Coastal Carolina scored the next 10 runs in the opener.
Second baseman Steve Davis hit his first career home run, a shot to center field, to tie the game at one. Center fielder Rico Noel then was hit by pitch from sophomore righty
Shane Pysh (Wheeling, W.Va./John Marshall), stole second, went to third on a throwing error and then scored on a wild pitch.
Coastal Carolina made it 6-1 in the third. Designated hitter Jose Iglesias singled and scored on a triple from right fielder Daniel Bowman. The big blow came on catcher Tucker Frawley's first career home run, a two-run shot to left field.
In the fifth, Davis doubled home Bowman to make it 7-1 Coastal Carolina. A two-run single from first baseman David Anderson in the sixth extended the lead to 9-1, while third baseman Tyler Bortnick's eighth home run concluded the scoring.
Bowman and Bortnick had three hits apiece for Coastal Carolina, while Frawley, Anderson and Davis drove in a pair. For Radford, five players had a hit apiece.
Left-hander Austin Fleet improved to 5-2 after pitching five innings and allowing just one run and three hits.
Pysh was tagged with the loss (3-2), allowing six earned runs and nine hits in five innings.
GAME 2 – CHANTICLEERS 14, HIGHLANDERS 2
Coastal Carolina belted out six home runs in game two, starting with Noel's leadoff home run in the first. Bortnick singled and score on Anderson's 12th home run of the year. Designated hitter Dustin King then went deep for the second time this season, making it 4-0 Coastal Carolina.
Left fielder Adam Rice brought in Davis with a single in the second. He then hit his fifth home run of the year in the fourth; a two-run shot that made it 7-0 Coastal Carolina.

Matt Hillsinger (Bowie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) brought in a run with a sacrifice fly, while Mollenhauer scored on a wild pitch from freshman righty Anthony Meo.
Bowman led off the fifth with a solo home run to make it 8-2 Chanticleers. Anderson then brought in a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Bortnick.
The Chanticleers ended the scoring in the eighth, scoring five runs. Pinch hitter Rich Witten hit a two-run home run, his first of the season. Coastal Carolina loaded the bases and scored a run on Evan Noell's bases-loaded walk. Davis then brought in two runs with a double to center field.
Meo moved to 5-0 after pitching 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and six hits with five strikeouts.
The loss went to redshirt freshman right-hander
Abram Williams (Radford, Va./Radford), who allowed nine hits and seven runs in four innings of work (1-3).
The top three of the Chanticleer lineup – Noel, Rice and Bortnick – had two hits apiece for Coastal Carolina. Davis joined them in the two-hit club. Rice and Anderson had three RBI each. For Radford, eight of the nine starters had a hit.
