JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Despite two second place finishes by
Katie Shaffer (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) and two top-3 finishes by
Emily Turner (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Technical), the Radford swimming and diving team fell to North Florida, 141-82, on Saturday at the UNF Aquatic Center.
The Highlanders fall to 1-6, while the Ospreys improve to 5-2.
Turner was edged out by North Florida's Taylor Crosby in the 100-yard butterfly but finished with a season-best time of 1:00.72. She also placed third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.18.
Shaffer recorded a score of 225.90 on the one-meter board and 221.25 on the three-meter board; both scores were good for second place finishes.
Sophomore
Ashley Maness (Conway, S.C./Carolina Forest) tallied a third place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:32.82.
The Highlanders will be back in the pool on Tuesday, January 12 as they face Florida Gulf Coast at 3:00 p.m.
