DAVIDSON, N.C. –
Katie Shaffer (Virginia Beach, Va. /Ocean Lakes) and
Emily Turner (Baltimore, Md. /Eastern Technical) paced the Radford swimming and diving team at the Davidson Invitational Saturday afternoon at Cannon Natatorium.
In what was a Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association preview, Turner and Shaffer proved that they can carry the Highlanders into the conference meet.
On the three-meter board, Shaffer placed second as she posted a score of 239.95. She would later take third place in the one-meter board with a mark of 228.25.
Turner finished third in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:14.06. She also recorded a fourth place finish and a season-best time of 1:03.71 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Erin Clark (Richmond, Va./Saint Gertrude) and
Ashley Maness (Conway, S.C./Carolina Forest) each posted a season-best time. Clark recorded a time of 26.91 in the 50-yard freestyle and Maness notched a time of 2:44.44 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Highlanders return to the Dedmon Center Natatorium on Jan. 29 for Senior Day against North Carolina A&T.
