RADFORD, Va. -- Radford returns home following a brief road trip to Liberty on Tuesday to host Charleston Southern in a three-game Big South set on Saturday and Sunday.
The teams will play a twinbill starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a single contest at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Prior to that loss, the Highlanders had won seven straight and of nine their last 11 contests. During that stretch, Radford opened up home play with a two-game sweep of Liberty in the Big South opener and went on to win all four games at its Highlanders Classic which was concluded by a
Kellie Snooks' no-hitter in the championship game against Kent State.
Charleston Southern, playing its league opener this weekend, is coming off a split with Campbell on Tuesday winning game two, 9-2 after a 7-1 defeat in the opening contest.
Sarah Himan reached the 200-hit plateau when she launched a second-inning home run against Albany on March 20. She becomes the sixth Highlander to reach the milestone. Himan enters this weekend, batting .382 with six doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI.
Offensively,
Shannon Keefe,
Lauren Williams and
Kristen Shifflett, like Himan are all batting above .340. Keefe paces that group with a team-best .396 average, followed by Williams at .353 and Shifflett at .343.
Shifflett is tops on the team with 18 runs, 14 RBI and 12 stolen bases. Keefe has registered five doubles, eight stolen bases and 12 RBI, while Williams has tallied seven runs and six thefts.

Charleston Southern is paced offensively by the Roanoke duo of Megan Lombard and Megan Hall, who are batting .404 and .381, respectively. The Hidden Valley High School graduates also lead Bucs in hits, runs, triples and stolen bases. Lombard also is tops in RBI and slugging, while second in doubles and home runs.
In the circle, Kimberly Hobbs and Sondra Vetter have seen the majority of the innings and have recorded 11 of the Bucs' 16 victories. Hobbs, ranked No. 1 in the NCAA in fewest walks per game, has allowed just four free passes in 73.1 innings, while posting a team-best 2.58 ERA with 32 strikeouts. Vetter has struck out a team-high 65 batters.
CSU second-year skipper Shane Winkler has ties with Radford head coach Mickey Dean. Winkler spent this past summer on the staff of the Chicago Bandits as an assistant to Dean and helped the Bandits to a NPF (National Pro Fastpitch) regular season championship
