Radford opens the first of three consecutive Big South weekends on the road with a three-game series at High Point, beginning Friday night.

Outside of tournament play at The Citadel (Feb. 26-28) and Elon (March 5-7), the High Point series is the first road series since opening weekend, when the Highlanders played three games at the College of Charleston.  For the last five weekends, Radford has enjoyed the confines of home, including the first three Big South sets.

The teams will play a three-game series for the first time since the 2008 season, when the Panthers took two of three from Radford in High Point.  Last season, the series was washed out following a Friday game that was halted following the eighth inning with High Point ahead, 16-11.

Radford, which dropped eight of nine games heading into the week, swept midweek play with home wins over James Madison on Tuesday (15-12) and Longwood on Wednesday (8-2) – both teams had records better than .500 for the season entering the week.

Both wins were notable for the Highlanders – their 15 runs against JMU were the most since a 19-5 win at Presbyterian last season (March 20) while four stolen bases for Tyren Rivers against Longwood tied a single-game school record.

High Point enters the week on an eight-game slide, including Big South series losses at Liberty (April 2-3) and Coastal Carolina (April 9-11).  The Panthers' losing streak coincides with a recent stretch of games on the road, with 13 of their last 14 coming away from home.   At Willard Stadium this season, the Panthers are 14-5, including wins over No. 16 East Carolina (March 17 – 13-12) and No. 30 VMI (March 21 – 15-14).

Entering the weekend, Matt Gantner leads the Panthers with a .387 batting average and 39 RBIs, while Nate Roberts has 11 homers, good for second in the Big South.    High Point enters the series hitting .337 as a team while posting a 6.85 ERA.

WEEKEND NOTEBOOK:
•    Raphael Turner has extended his streak of reaching base safely to 22 consecutive games, dating back to March 9
•    Over his last 22 games, Turner is hitting .358 (29-for-81) with 16 RBIs and 14 walks against 16 strikeouts (.459 on-base percentage)
•    With his fourth homer of the season on Wednesday, Turner leads active Radford hitters with 15 career blasts
•    Matt Hillsinger carries a team-best seven game hitting streak into the weekend; Hillsinger is 13 for his last 30 (.433)
•    Hillsinger is hitting .381 in Big South games this season with 10 RBIs
•    Ty Rivers and Reggie Keen, who have 16 stolen bases each this season, are tied for sixth in the Big South in steals
•    As a team, Radford's 77 stolen bases lead the Big South – Radford began the week 17th in the nation in steals and 12th in steals per game (2.38)
•    Freshman right-hander Eddie Butler enters the weekend with a 3.65 ERA, 10th-best in the Big South
