WOMEN'S RESULTS
HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Radford men's and women's cross country teams each finished in third place and were led by freshmen
Ashley Lounsbury and
Brian Gorwitz in the JMU Cross Country Invitational at the New Market Battlefield on Saturday.
The women tallied 72 points, falling just behind host JMU and Longwood in the team standings. The Highlander men finished third for the second consecutive meet, behind George Mason and the Naval Academy in a six-team field.
Lounsbury finished in the top 10 among collegiate competitors, finishing the 5.2-kilometer race in 21:03.00.
Radford's
Jessica Arneson,
Hannah Scheren and
Maggie Wissler weren't far behind Lounsbury placing 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively, with times of 21:39.70, 21:47.30 and 21:57.20.
In the men's race, Gorwitz led all Highlander participants in the 7.9-kilometer competition, racing to a 26:46.30 finish, which was good for a 17th place showing.
Another freshman,
Graham Schlickenmeyer, placed one spot behind Gorwitz with a 26:58.70 performance in his first collegiate appearance.
Sam Keltner crossed the finish line in 21st place with a time of 28:02.90 and
Chris Weeks was on Keltner's heels, finishing one second behind at 28:03.60.
The Highlanders will have a lengthy break before hosting the Big South Preview on Sept. 25, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
