HIGHLANDERS OPEN 2011 AT HOKIE INVITATIONAL

RADFORD, Va. –
The Radford track and field programs will open 2011 and continue their indoor slate when they compete in the Hokie Invitational this weekend at Rector Field House. Events are scheduled to begin Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.

This weekend's meet will mark the second competition of the season for Radford. The Highlanders are looking to build upon an impressive start, which included one school record, four individual titles among collegiate competitors, and 17 (five women, 12 men) Top-5 performances that showcased the Liberty Kick Off in early December.

Senior Nikki Roseberry tied the school mark in the high jump with a leap of 1.70m/5-07.00.  Britney Whittaker clocked a 2:24.08 time in the 800m to finish first among collegiate athletes.

On the men's side, senior Bryan Wallace captured the long jump title with a distance of 6.88m/22-07.00 and freshman Chris Weeks claimed the top mile time of 4:39.11. Sophomore Kaise White also topped his collegiate field in the 200 with a time of 22.74.

In addition to these accolades, 12 marks entered Radford's all-time Top-10 times/distances:

60-meter hurdles
Courtni Pannell - 9.04, 9.07; 7th, 8th
Bryan Wallace - 8.39; 6th
Chris Dobbins - 8.40-p, 8.43-f; 8th, t-9th
Brett Olinger - 8.37-p, 8.43-f; 4th, t-9th

High Jump
Nikki Roseberry - 1.70m/5-07.00; t-1st

Pentathlon
Amber Church - 2,747 points; 5th
Courtni Pannell - 2,485 points; 8th

Heptathlon
Kevin Richards - 4,502 points; 2nd
Phillip Hovatter - 4,198 points; 5th
