BOONE, N.C. – The Radford cross country teams had solid showings at the Blue Ridge Open Friday afternoon led by freshman
Teresa Williamson's (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) 45th-place performance in the last tune-up before conference.
Williamson posted a 19:25.80 to place 45th out of 177 competitors to lead the Highlander women. Senior
Caroline Ratterree (Falcon, Colo./Northeastern JUCO) trailed Williamson in 66th place at 19:41.20.
On the men's side,
Brian Gorwitz (Yorktown, Va./Grafton) led all Radford runners and crossed the stripe in 26:51.50. The lead runner for most of the year,
Thomas Keefe (Fairfax Station, Va./South County Secondary), wrapped up the 8k in 26:56.10, good for a 78th-place finish of 200 runners.
As a team, the Highlander men finished 14th overall with 428 points while the women finished in 20th.
Freshman
Ryan Farnan (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) clocked in at 27:06.10 time and capped the meet in 89th. Other notable Highlander times included
Chris Weeks' (Hamilton, Va./Loudoun Valley) 27:31.09 and
Joey Hannah's (Centreville, Va./Centreville) 28:08.50.
Radford's next race will come at the Big South Championship on Oct. 29, held in Conway, S.C.
