RADFORD, Va. – Skye Hickling (Midlothian, Va./Cosby) recorded personal-bests on the one and three-meter boards to showcase Radford swimming and diving's defeats of VMI and Pfeiffer University Saturday afternoon at Dedmon Natatorium.
Hickling posted 219.30 points on the one-meter board while surpassing her previous PR on the three-meter board with 254.20 points, each first-place showings.
The Highlanders took the dual with each team, defeating VMI 142-56 and Pfeiffer 136-69, and brought home all but two individual event titles.
The foursome of
Colleen Miller (Kent Island, Md./Archbishop Spalding),
CeCe de la Garza (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg),
Emily Turner (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Technical) and
Clair Doherty (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) took first in the 400-yard medley relay, clocking in at 4:08.95.
In addition to the 400-yard medley relay title, de la Garza took home the top spot in the 400-yard individual medley (4:55.69) while Doherty won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.02
Rebecca Moyer (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem) recorded a finals time of 11:35.47 in the 1000-yard freestyle to take top honors and later added a title in the 500-yard freestyle (5:37.79).
Turner, Doherty and
Julia Hoffman (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) finished 1-2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle with Turner's first-place time being 2:02.13.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Meaghan Rowley (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) defeated the field, touching the wall in 26.28.
Haley Schweitzer (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) grabbed first in the 100-yard freestyle at 56.71 and
Jessica Frazelle (Lexington, N.C./West Davidson) topped a group of 11 swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.14.
The Highlanders get back in action Friday, Oct. 28 with a dual at Liberty. The contest will begin at 5 p.m.
