CONWAY, S.C. – Seniors
Nikki Roseberry and
Bryan Wallace each set new school records in the high jump and 110-meter hurdles to conclude Radford track and field action in the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Saturday.
Roseberry broke the previous high jump mark of 1.70m with her event-winning 1.75m/5-08.75 while Wallace eclipsed his own school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.89, which gave him the runner-up position.
"Bryan's performance was a nice way to start the outdoor season,” commented assistant coach
Mark White. “I am expecting that he will go much lower as the season progresses. The work he is putting in is showing in his performances and to run a PR and a get school record after a pretty tough week of training was great."
“Using her never-quit mentality, Nikki has definitely put herself in a unique group by bettering not only the outdoor school record at Radford in which she already owned, but she has allowed herself to be placed on the NCAA descending order list,” said jumps coach Ernest Moss.
Freshman
Amber Church had no trouble transitioning her success in the indoor hurdles to outdoor. She finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.41, while fellow hurdler
Courtni Pannell had a top-10 performance as well, running a 14.83. Church's time was the second fastest in school history.
Brett Olinger continues to etch his name in the all-time top-10 record book in the 400-meter hurdles. He recorded the second fastest time in school history at 53.40, which stood for second place.
Alyssa Barrow added a solid showing on the women's side, finishing eighth with a time of 1:05.44.
In the sprints, senior
