RAIN SHORTENS FINAL DAY OF ASICS WINTHROP INVITATIONAL

FULL RESULTS

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Senior Britney Whittaker's 800m victory and Tyler Sturgill's runner-up discus finish highlighted the rain-shortened final day at the Asics Winthrop Invitational on Saturday.

Whittaker captured the 800m title with a 2:19.48 time while Sturgill threw a personal-best 41.36m/135'8” in the discus.

Due to the weather conditions that progressively got worse throughout the day, times that were recorded were much slower than normal.

Fresh off a victory in the 5000m, Brian Gorwitz had an eighth-place showing in the 1500m with a time of 4:07.72.  Chris Weeks earned a seventh-place spot in the men's 800, crossing the line in 2:00.77.

The 4x100 team of Brett Olinger, Chris Dobbins, Raschad Kelso and Bryan Wallace finished third with a time of 43.87.

Cori Tedesco ran extremely well in the 800 developmental, racing to a 2:35.46 time and ninth-place finish in a field of 31.

Radford returns to the track next weekend when it participates in the Liberty Invite, Apr. 1-2.  Fans can follow all Radford track and field action on Twitter (@RUtrackfield) and on Facebook.
