ROCK HILL, S.C. – Senior
Britney Whittaker's 800m victory and
Tyler Sturgill's runner-up discus finish highlighted the rain-shortened final day at the Asics Winthrop Invitational on Saturday.
Whittaker captured the 800m title with a 2:19.48 time while Sturgill threw a personal-best 41.36m/135'8” in the discus.
Due to the weather conditions that progressively got worse throughout the day, times that were recorded were much slower than normal.
Fresh off a victory in the 5000m,
Brian Gorwitz had an eighth-place showing in the 1500m with a time of 4:07.72.
Chris Weeks earned a seventh-place spot in the men's 800, crossing the line in 2:00.77.
The 4x100 team of
Brett Olinger,
Chris Dobbins,
Raschad Kelso and
Bryan Wallace finished third with a time of 43.87.
Cori Tedesco ran extremely well in the 800 developmental, racing to a 2:35.46 time and ninth-place finish in a field of 31.
