PERSONAL RECORDS FALL AT BLUE RIDGE OPEN

BOONE, N.C. –
In their final tune-ups for the Big South Championships in two weeks, the Radford men's and women's cross country teams finished 13th and 10th, respectively, at the Blue Ridge Open Friday evening.
 
In the men's race, freshman Alan Weaver led Radford with a personal-best time of 26:04.39 to finish 68th out of 146. Junior Thomas Keefe finished 96th with a 26:56.61 pace, while junior Chris Weeks (99th) completed the 8k course in 27:04.86.
 
Senior Sam Keltner (109th) crossed the finish line in 27:23.51 and freshman Harrison Murn (125th) set a new PR with a time of 28:45.16.
 
Wake Forest finished with a time of 2:04:21.13 to edge runner-up George Mason in the team race by just over three seconds. The Patriots' Robert Reynolds came in with a time of 24:31.07 to win the individual title.
 
On the women's side, five of the nine Highlander runners shattered their personal marks in the 5k race. Leading the RU pack was Madeline Thomas, who ran the course in 20:05.28 (PR) to finish 71st out of 121. Behind Thomas was Emily Marshall (78th) with a time of 20:20.87 and Hannah Scheren (79th) with a 20:21.75 pace.
 
Finishing 93rd was Casey Clark with a personal-best time of 21:11.19. Alyssa Walker (94th) and Sabrina Romano (97th) set new personal records with times of 21:13.70 and 21:18.88, respectively.
 
Teresa Williamson (100th) crossed the finish line in 21:27.48 and Ashley Lounsbury (102nd) ran the course in 21:35.15. Katie Hickey's time of 22:55.68, which is a new personal record, gave her a 114th-place finish.
 
The Demon Deacons made it a sweep in the team race when the women's squad claimed the title with a time of 1:31:18.46 to best runner-up Belmont by over a minute. Wake Forest was led by individual winner Nicole Irving, who finished the meet in 17:28.64.
 
The Big South Championships are up next for the Highlanders, which will be in two weeks. The races are set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
