BRADLEY AND SCHOUTEN SIGN WITH SWIMMING & DIVING

RADFORD, Va. – Swimming and diving head coach Ian Coffey announced the signing of Laura Bradley (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Madeline Schouten (Lititz, Pa.) to National Letters of Intent as part of the his first signing class on Friday morning. Schouten and Bradley will join the Highlanders swimming and diving program for the 2013-14 season.

“Both Maddie and Laura will make an impact the day they first dive in the pool," commented Coffey. Both bring an excellent skill set and a great attitude.  They are the type of athletes we are looking for at Radford University."

File on Bradley – Three-time Battlefield District Champion in 100 Free and two-time in the 50 free… 2010-11 Battlefield District Swimmer of the Year… Finished fifth (50) and eighth (100) in the in the 2010-11 Group AA state championships… Three-year team captain and two-time team MVP… Owns school record in 50 free and is a member of the school-record 200 medley relay team… Member of the National Honor Society.
 
Coffey's Comments: “From the time I started talking with Laura Bradley during the beginning of the recruiting process, I knew she would fit in here at Radford University. During her visit, I was very impressed with her questions and her desire to compete. She will be a great addition to our sprint program."

File on Schouten – Lancaster-Lebanon League breaststroke champion… League, district and state qualifier… 10-year member of the Five Star Club… Honor and Distinguished Honor Roll… Brother Colin swam at Georgia Tech.
 
Coffey's Comments: “I am very happy Maddie is going to be a part of our program. She will bring depth to our breaststroke group and her best swimming days are a head of her. During her visit in the early Fall, Maddie fit right in with out program and I can't wait to have her start swimming for the Highlanders in 2013.”
