The two-game series with the Explorers this week begins a stretch where the Highlanders will play 20 of the next 25 games at RU Baseball Stadium – Radford won't play a weekend series on the road until April 6.
Coming off its longest road swing of the year, Radford is back at home with some momentum – the Highlanders won their first series of the season with a pair of victories at previously-unbeaten UNC Greensboro.
In the series at Greensboro, the Highlanders picked up 7-3 wins on Friday and Sunday, highlighted by late insurance runs. Radford outscored UNCG 5-0 from the sixth inning on in Friday's game, and added three ninth-inning runs on Sunday. Offensively, Zach Costello led the way with a 6-for-12 weekend and three walks, Matt Hillsinger knocked in five runs, and Brett Mollenhauer went 4-for-12, scoring five times. In addition to strong starts from pitchers Eddie Butler and Tyler Costello, Radford's bullpen posted a 1.96 weekend ERA.
This week marks the first-ever meeting between Radford and La Salle – the Explorers are in the middle of a nine-game road trip and a stretch where they play 16 of their first 17 games away from Philadelphia. La Salle went 28-26 last season and was picked to finish eighth in the Atlantic 10's Preseason Poll. The Explorers enter the week 5-4 after taking a weekend series at North Carolina A&T, including an 8-6 win in 11 innings on Sunday.
Since 2008, Radford is 3-1 against the A-10 with wins over Charlotte (2008), St. Joe's (2010) and Fordham (2011).
