TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT LIBERTY COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL ON SATURDAY

RESULTS

LYNCHBURG, Va. – With a split squad this weekend, one half of the Radford track and field program took part in the Liberty Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
 
Sprints
Chris Henry took 10th in the men's 100m dash with a finals time of 11.17.
 
Grant Mitchell and Eric Graves finished back-to-back in the men's 400m with times of 50.24 and 50.89, respectively.  Stephanie Smith ran a 1:02.34 to place eighth in the women's 400m.
 
Middle Distance
Shalonda Mitchell crushed her previous best time and took third in the 800m at 2:16.22.  Prior to today, Mitchell's previous best outdoor time was 2:21.39.  Furthermore, it was the ninth fastest time in program history.
 
Thomas Keefe garnered a Top-10 showing in the 800m when he crossed the finish line at 1:59.53.
 
In the 1500m, Maggie Wissler clocked a personal-best 4:59.10 and finished sixth. She lowered previous best time by over 9 seconds.  
 
Distance
Ryan Farnan and Sam Keltner each ran a solid race in the 5000m.  Farnan capped the event in fifth at 15:17.44 and Keltner placed sixth with a time of 15:50.99.
 
Caroline Ratterree clocked an 18:28.64 in the 5000m - good for a third-place performance.  
 
Hurdles
Samantha Reddington took home sixth in the 400m hurdles, crossing the stripe at 1:08.01.   On the men's side, David Green ran a personal-best 56.03 to finish fifth.
 
Jumps
For the third straight meet, Lindsey Noe reached a 3.05m / 10-00.00 height in the pole vault and finished fifth.  In the women's high jump, Jessica Barron posted a 1.47m / 4-09.75 clearance to place 12th.
 
Jamiecka Baker spanned 11.13m / 36-06.25 in the triple jump to place seventh.
 
Throws
Alyssa Isham highlighted the throws with a 12th-place showing in the women's shot put.  Her toss reached an 11.58m / 38-00.00 distance.
 
Emmalene Hale also set a new PR in the discus with a 34.29m / 112-06 and finished 15th.
 
Radford will compete in the Carolina's Cup on Apr. 30.  The men will attempt to defend their team title from a year ago.
