WYATT SHATTERS SCHOOL RECORD TO WIN 60M HURDLES AT VT INVITATIONAL

RESULTS

BLACKSBURG, Va.
Vincent Wyatt highlighted the opening day of the VT Invitational for Radford track and field as the sophomore set a school record in the 60m hurdles Friday night at Rector Field House. Wyatt's mark was one of 16 personal records set by the Highlanders.

Wyatt's extraordinary day got started on the right foot as the Atlanta, Ga. native finished second (8.00) in the preliminary round, which at the moment was the third-best time in program history. However, Wyatt saved his eye-popping performance for the final when he won the 60m hurdles title with a school record time of 7.76, edging Jeff Artis-Gray of Virginia Tech by .01 of a second.

His mark shattered the previous best time of 7.95, which was set by Wyatt at the Akron Invitational last February. Wyatt's 7.76 mark in the 60m hurdles is a Big South record and is currently the fifth-best time in the nation.

Wyatt was not the only Highlander to shine on day one. Curtis Hodge finished fourth in the men's weight throw after a heave of 16.83m. On the women's side, Jordan Wilson and Ashlen Veatch represented RU very well in the women's weight throw. Finishing eighth and ninth respectively, Wilson (14.74m) and Veatch (14.71m) were credited with personal-best tosses.

Providing two additional top-10 performances for the Highlanders were Cory Dunn and Jamiecka Baker (both finished eighth) in the triple jump. Dunn landed for a 13.52m mark in the men's event, while Baker came in with an 11.00m measurement on the women's side.

Radford also had impressive showings in distance events, led by three top-20 finishes in the men's 500m. Eric Graves (1:07.17), Jake Zimmerman (1:07.19) and David Green (1:09.68) set personal records to conclude in 11th, 12th and 19th, respectively.

Continuing on the men's side, Brian Gorwitz ran the 1000m in a personal-best 2:32.15 to finish 13th.

Teresa Williamson and Maggie Wissler highlighted the women's distance with personal records. Finishing 20th was Williamson at 5:20.70, while Wissler was right behind in 21st by crossing the line in 5:20.77.

Day two of the VT Invitational is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Follow the live results by clicking here.
