In addition to nine personal records set, Radford track and field posted eight top-10 performances Saturday in the VT Invitational at Rector Field House on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Adding to its impressive total from Friday, the Highlanders had 25 personal bests established during the two-day meet featuring programs from the ACC, SEC, C-USA, A-10, SoCon and Big South.

Ryan Farnan got RU off on the right track as the sophomore finished the 5000m in an individual-record 15:13.24 to come in 11th. His PR ranks fourth in program history in the 5000m.

Michelle Speede (1:01.01) and Danyelle McDaniel (1:01.96—PR) shined in the 400m, finishing 20th and 23rd, respectively. In the men's 400m, Kaise White recorded the Highlanders' first top-10 showing of the day when he crossed the line in 50:01 to finish sixth.

Carrying momentum from Friday's impressive start, Maggie Wissler and Teresa Williamson placed eighth and 13th, respectively, in the 800m. Wissler was clocked at 2:22.50, while Williamson was right behind with a personal-best 2:26.25.

The dynamic trio of Chris Weeks, Eric Graves and Jake Zimmerman paced Radford in the men's 800m. Weeks (1:59.94), Graves (1:59.97) and Zimmerman (2:00.01) held down the 10th-12th spots in the finals.

Running in the final track event for the Highlanders was Brian Gorwitz. He did not disappoint as the junior completed the 3000m in an individual-best 8:40.05, which ranks fifth in program history, to finish sixth in the event.

Kaleice Green landed a personal-best 5.48m long jump to take sixth in the women's event, while Chris Henry (6.51m) and Cory Dunn (6.35m—PR) finished 13th and 16th, respectively, during the men's portion.

Coming down to the final field event Radford competed in, Desi Simmons and Jazmine Banks took center stage. Simmons hoisted a personal-record 12.67m mark in the women's shot put to place fifth, which was the top finish by a Highlander on day two. Banks' mark of 12.03m was seventh-best in the event.

After a successful meet to open 2013, the men's and women's squads head to the Liberty Open (Jan. 25-26) hosted by the Flames at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center.
