RESULTS

LEXINGTON, Va. –
Radford won 12 of 13 events as it rolled to a 184-48 victory over VMI in a CCSA dual on Saturday afternoon. Sophomores Mary Flinn and Sarah Fredericksen each won two events as eight different Highlanders took home victories helping their squad to it first win of the season.
 
Flinn topped the field in the 100 and 200 freestyles, while Fredericksen won the 1000 free and the 200 IM. Fredericksen's time of 2:16.20 was the sixth fastest in program history.
 
Sophomore Yvonne Smith (50 free), senior Skye Hickling (3-meter), junior Claire Doherty (100 fly), senior Jessica Frazelle (100 backstroke), freshman Marinda Kitchen (500 freestyle) and freshman Madeline Schouten (100 backstroke) all touched the wall with the fastest times.
 
Hickling's winning score of 276.10 is personal best, improving from her score of 275.55 from last year's Highlander Invitational. Earlier in the meet, classmate Alex Poletti smashed her personal best on the one-meter board making a 21.83 point jump to 263.85 earning her a second-place finish and the second-best score in the record books, which was just .22 points shy of Hickling's school record.
 
The Highlanders opened the meet with a win in the 400-medley relay and followed that with a one-two finish, the first of nine on the day, including 1-2-3 finishes in the 200 freestyle (Flinn, Frazelle, freshman Elena Acevedo), 100 butterfly (Doherty, senior Haley Schweitzer, Kitchen) and 100 freestyle (Flinn, Acevedo, Smith).
 
Along with the 10 individual victories, the 400-medley squad (4:15.31) consisting of Frazelle, Schouten, Schweitzer and Smith and the 400-free relay team comprised Acevedo, freshman Laura Bradley, Doherty and Kitchen won their respective races.
 
Radford returns to action on Oct. 8 at CCSA foe UNC Asheville.
