HIGHLANDERS DOMINANT IN CCSA DUAL MEET WIN OVER AGGIES

RU WINS ALL 11 EVENTS WITH SIX 1-2-3 FINISHES



RADFORD, Va. – Radford swimming and diving won all 11 events, including six 1-2-3 finishes, as it rolled past North Carolina A&T, 165-35, in a Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association dual meet on Friday evening at the Dedmon Center Natatorium.

RESULTS
 
Sophomores Mary Flinn and Sarah Fredericksen each won two events, while senior Jessica Frazelle, sophomore Yvonne Smith and the freshman trio of Laura Bradley, Madeline Schouten and Lindsey Anderson (pictured) posted first-place times. Flinn, Schouten, Smith, Bradley and Frazelle were also part of triumphant relay teams. For Anderson and Bradley it was their first collegiate victories.
 
The 1-2-3 sweeps came in the 400 individual medley, 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 500 freestyle and 200 free relay.
 
Doubling her season win total to four, Flinn cruised to victories in the 100 backstroke (1:03.38) and 200 individual medley (2:21.88), topping the field by 3.64 and 7.05 seconds, respectively. Fredericksen bested the field in the 400 IM (4:47.00) and 100 butterfly (59.50), her eighth and ninth triumphs of the season.
 
In the closest race of the evening, Frazelle's 56.27 in the 100 freestyle earned her a photo finish victory over Bradley (56.31). Smith grabbed the 50 freestyle win, edging Frazelle by .21 seconds. In the other freestyle events Bradley (200) and Anderson (500) triumphed with times of 2:01.24 and 5:31.76, respectively. Classmate Elena Acevedo and sophomore Jordan Jessee earned runner-up finishes in each respective event.
 
Closing out the individual victory parade was Schouten in the 100 breaststroke. She topped A&T's Danielle Jackson by less than a second, touching the wall at 1:13.25 for her fourth win of her rookie campaign.
 
Also earning runner-up finishes were Anderson (400 IM), junior Claire Doherty (100 fly) and senior Meaghan Rowley (100 back). Senior Haley Schweitzer recorded a personal best in the 100 backstroke (1:07.77), besting her previous time by three seconds.
 
The 200 medley relay (Flinn, Schouten, Doherty, Smith) and the 200 freestyle (Frazelle, Acevedo, Doherty, Bradley) opened and closed the meet in fine form with times of 1:56.55 and 1:45.27, respectively.
 
Prior to the meet, Radford's diving squad of Skye Hickling, Alex Poletti and Kelsey Parshall dove in an exhibition session. Hickling posted 253.95 and 227.02 points on the three and one-meter boards. Poletti went 208.65 and 219.89, while Parshall scored a 162.52 and 167.18, respectively.
 
The Highlanders wrap up their regular season next Saturday, Feb. 1 hosting Saint Francis (Pa.) at 12:00.
