APPS AND LIMO SWEEP BIG SOUTH RUNNERS OF THE WEEK HONORS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Runners of the Week awards were announced on Wednesday afternoon and both Caitlin Apps and Joe Limo were among those recognized by the conference office for their performances at the Royals Challenge in Charlotte last Friday.

Apps was named the Big South Runner of the Week for the women after notching a new 5K program record with a stellar 17:34 time at the Royals Challenge, her second program record in as many races.

In her three races this season, the freshman has set incredible personal records in each one. Her 6K and 5k records were both top twenty finishers for those respective competitions, both against big fields and tough competition. Her 6K time of 21:16.9 was 17th best at the Panorama Farms Invitational while her 5K time at the Royals Challenge was good for an 8th place finish.

Limo took home Big South Runner of the Week for the men after pulling his 8K personal record down to 25:34, a full 46 seconds shorter than his previous record at the same track. The Kenyan native continues to lead the Highlanders this year, as his performance at the Royals Challenge was his second-straight race as the Highlanders top finisher.

The Highlanders next challenge will be at the Vertcross Invitational this Friday at High Point, N.C..
